Chainmakers Festival 1 July Cradley Heath
A brief note to say that The workshop of Provision House will have a stall and will be attending this year’s Chainmaker’s festival. It happens on Saturday 1 July 2023 – 11:00 to 17:30 at Mary McArthur Gardens, Whitehall Road, Cradley Heath, B64 5BG. We’ll have things to see, some items for sale and a lucky dip. Come along and say hello, we’d be more than happy to see you and have a chat.
On Other Matters
When doing furniture repairs or indeed any repair work having a shrewd idea of the item’s anatomy really helps in working out a way forward. The ’trouble’ with most furniture is that you can’t see inside without destructing the piece. Occasionally we get the opportunity to destruct a piece. And so today we had a woodworm rotted chair. This was duly taken to pieces. But firstly here’s a picture of the destructive nature of woodworm. This leg was pretty well eaten through out with no chance of repair.
Some worm(s) had a fine meal. And here’s a pic of the chair’s constituent parts.
And so our understanding increase by a small increment as the lexicon of making is added to.
