We had a broken fridge freezer door handle, its plastic fitting lug had split. It was worth fixing as the fridge freezer was in a very good condition.
Our first job was to fill the the broken area with epoxy based filler.
Two spacer chairs were made from blocks of wood. These were drilled through to take the fixing bolts.
The handle was then glued to the blocks and self tapping screws were used to affix the handle to the door.
Here’s a self tapping screw. They are pretty natty in that they drill and cut a thread in metal in one operation. The position of these screws on the handle was the same distance apart as the original fittings.
And here is the handle fixed in position. Thus a good fridge freezer lives to store food again saved from landfill.
