We have just completed the refurbishment of a record cabinet. It is designed for 12 inch LPs.
During manufacture its splayed legs were not properly aligned so our first job was to fix them. And it had no doors so we did a ‘best guess’ as to what they might look like & fabricated a pair.
We came up with what we would hope to be a visually striking design. We had a thumb hole above which there was a handle. The handles were made from the black keys off a piano.
A pair of the cabinet’s legs were too short which we fixed by gluing wooden pads to them which were eventually painted over to match.
We found this Workmate dumped in the street. Thank you to whoever left it out there. For a workshop this is a gift. Whilst it looks a little rough all the parts are there, it folds and the jaws work. A few of the pressed steel frame members are bent but we should be able to straighten them. A little bit of work and this will become a usable Workmate. So watch this space.
