A bit of background on the car
The car was first purchased by Maurice on the 26th May 1994, from Paul Kynaston Classic Cars, Exeter, Devon.
It changed hands for the sum of £8750.00 – how the market has changed since then!!
The photographs show the car to be in good condition, however, looks can be deceptive, in the years that followed the dreaded corrosion worked its way into the sills and floor pan.
Receipts show that from the mid 1990’s – 2000’s, major repair work was undertaken involving sills, wheel arches and floors. This being done at Lousie Street Garage, Gornal Wood, Dudley, by Paul Raybould, hence his ongoing connection with the car today.
These next few photos show the extent of the repair work required just to keep the car on the road. Following this work the car was rarely used and spent a decade in a garage.
For us today this work and photos are reassuring, as it provides us with a solid foundation upon which to continue the work to restore the car.
