We make a splash at the Himley Hall Classic & Retro Car Show

It was an early start for the team on the 7th, in order to collect the car from the Institute of Technology and get it to Himley Hall in time to set up for the Classic & Retro Car Show.
Knowing we were going to show the car, we intentionally left the front and rear suspension in place to provide us with a rolling chassis. This made the task of transporting and manoeuvring the car simple.
Thanks to a great new friend, Mel Deakin (with van and trailer), we would have given anyone the impression we really knew what we were doing?? Without his help the day would not have been possible.
At the showground, we were set up in good time. The show organisers had not only provided us with a free pitch (supporting the community project), but had also afforded us a prominent position that all the other show cars had to drive past as they entered the grounds.
We certainly had no lack of interest in both the community project behind the car as well as the car itself. From the conversations we had, many new contacts were made. One of the things that struck me, was just how many other people in the region were also restoring E-types. I think we counted 6 in total. So it would seem, the Midlands is the place to be if you are into E-type restoration. There are certainly all the support services you can think of in this area.
The heavens opened by mid-day with many car owners deciding to go, however, it also had the effect of driving people to take shelter with us, resulting in many more find out about the project.

So we had a great day, the car dot a bit damp, but at this stage that was no great concern.
I must express my sincere thanks to the event organisers ‘Classic Motor Events’ who supported us with the free entry, and to my team who worked really hard, to talk and inform everyone came to see us.
The car is now safely back at the IOT and we have already removed all of the front suspension, anti-roll bar and steering rack, as well as the pedal box and brake lines. So, the engine frame is now fully stripped down. Now we have a lot of cleaning, painting or re-plating to do.
