Food Club with Advice and Guidance
Food that Supports Today, Guidance that Strengthens Tomorrow
Food Club
Who Do We Provide Items For?
It’s a membership-based community project that provides a variety of groceries to families who need to save some money on their food bills.
We have a range of items including fresh, chilled and frozen produce, tins and packets, toiletries and cleaning products. We sometimes have breads and pastries and a few baby products to. The quantity and variety can change from week to week.
Memberships costs £5 per visit, and you will be able to take around £25 of produce. We hope that being a member provides a sense of ownership and stability to our families.
Isn’t that just a Foodbank?
We work closely with trusted agencies to support families for 3 to 24 months. We want to empower people to make positive changes and to let them know they are not alone. Foodbanks are great in a crisis, but it’s better not to get to crisis point before you receive the help you need. That’s why we support agencies who are already working with families to build resilience.
What Do We Provide?
Once you’ve been referred, you’ll be invited to attend an initial
assessment and we’ll explain how it works. For a membership fee of £5 a visit
you can get:
- 3-4 Blue items (these are usually higher end products like coffee, meat, cereal etc)
- 6-7 Yellow items (usually pasta, beans, tea etc)
- If we have any fresh fruit or veg you can take a couple of bags for free.
There will be someone to walk around with you to point out offers, 2 for 1 or special meal deals. They’ll also explain if any items are restricted, one per family for example. (Things like coffee or cereal)
We also really appreciate feedback so we can try to stock the things you need most so please let us know what you are looking for.
Advice and Guidance
Our Advice and Guidance sessions are here to give you practical support when things feel difficult. We can help with money worries, budgeting, debts, benefits, Universal Credit tasks, and issues with energy or water bills. If you’re struggling with essential household items, or need training or help with finding a job, we have services right here that can help.
We’re also here for your wellbeing. If you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed or unsure where to turn, we offer a friendly space to talk and can link you with counselling, mental‑health support, housing help, or safeguarding services when needed. Sometimes support is as simple as helping you fill in a form, understand a letter, or make an important phone call. Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to face it alone — we’re here to help you move forward.
Gardening Project & Wellbeing Walks
Our Gardening Project and Wellbeing Walks offer gentle, welcoming ways for people to look after their physical and mental wellbeing while connecting with others. The gardening sessions give individuals the chance to grow plants, learn new skills, enjoy fresh air, and take pride in nurturing something from seed to harvest. It’s a calm, hands‑on activity that helps reduce stress and builds confidence in a supportive environment.
Alongside this, our Wellbeing Walks provide a friendly space to get moving, talk, and explore local green areas together. These walks are relaxed and accessible to all, encouraging connection, routine, and a sense of community. Whether someone wants to improve their wellbeing, make new friends, or simply take a breather from daily pressures, these activities offer a gentle and meaningful way to feel better and move forward.
How Can I Access this Service?
Usually you need to be working with one of our trusted agencies, who can then refer you. However, if your circumstances have changed suddenly and you need to reduce your food bills for a while please call the FoodClub on 0121 285 3970 or email foodclub@provisionhouse.co.uk as we may be able to help you.
You don’t have to access the FoodClub every week, but you do need to come in regularly and we hope that as you get to know us we’ll be able to provide any additional help you might need, whether this is budgeting, filling out a form, checking your benefits, finding out about homework support, or you just need a listening ear.
We’ll review your membership every 3 months to check we’re still offering the best support we can. We are considering many other layers of support in the future including debt advice and counselling services, so if there’s some support you would benefit from, let us know.
